Myofascial Release
What is Myofascial Release?
Myofascial Release is an advanced manipulation of the connective tissue (aka fascia) performed with no oils or lotions.
The higher grip obtained this way allows me to access and manipulate specific layers of the fascia in a way that the gliding strokes of deep tissue massage cannot achieve.
These techniques are very slow, deep and controlled, often combined with simple active or passive movements of the patient and are designed to break down the adhesions and restrictions that are preventing fascial layers from stretching and sliding against one another as they should. The fascia responds by becoming more pliable, rehydrating and reorganising itself.
Symptoms of fascial dysfunction and chronic pain can often present in areas far away from their cause as tensions can be transferred along lines of force transmission known as myofascial meridians or fascial planes. The high releasing power of these techniques can be perceived by the patient as intense and the sudden reduction of tension in key areas may also result in a feeling of emotional relief.
By following a patient’s unique patterns of tension along these meridians, I can track down the cause of symptoms and unravel the patterns that are causing myofascial dysfunctions. The result is restored freedom, increased efficiency of movement and significant reduction of pain.

While I do not have direct billing agreements with specific insurance providers, some clients are able to obtain partial or full reimbursement through their own private medical insurance.
You can submit my invoices directly to your insurer and check whether your policy covers treatment provided by an FHT-registered therapist.
If your insurance plan includes therapies such as sports massage or deep tissue massage, it will often also cover myofascial release, although this depends on your individual policy.
I recommend contacting your insurer in advance to confirm eligibility and reimbursement terms.
To help the session run smoothly and allow access to key areas of the body, please:
Wear appropriate undergarments — a sports bra and opaque underwear are ideal
Sports bra straps may sit on the shoulders but should be loose enough to be gently moved aside during treatment
Choose non-restrictive bra and waistband elastics; avoid tight or compressive garments
Avoid applying body or face lotions before your appointment
You will always be appropriately draped, and the session is adapted to your comfort and boundaries.
Shower normally and please do NOT wear any face or body lotion.
It is usually better to receive treatment on an empty stomach.
Last-minute appointments occasionally become available due to cancellations.

This varies depending on your situation. Many clients attend for a short series of sessions focused on a specific issue. Others choose longer-term work for complex or long-standing patterns.
Most people come weekly for a short period of time with the aim to create change that holds between sessions. Frequency is then gradually reduced to 3-6 weeks apart to maintain the results and integrate the change in their every day movement.
I’ll always discuss spacing and expectations with you honestly.
